The Prize!

Price versus the Prize

Sheilah suffered from a dilemma in the first half of the year that can be summed up with the following 7 simple words:  THE PRICE BECAME BIGGER THAN THE PRIZE.  When the everyday PRICE is the only thing we can see (waking up earlier, denying yourself chocolate and the fried chicken, going on another job interview) then the PRIZE (completing a marathon, fitting into your skinny jeans, taking your family on a vacation or changing careers) diminishes right out of view.  In the mix of life we forget what we are working so hard for.  Hmmm, sound all too familiar?

Did you ever think for a moment you ARE strong enough, you ARE smart enough, you DO have enough time and resources, the only missing piece was you took your eye off the prize somewhere in the last 7 months.  The fix is actually rather simple, GET FAMILIAR WITH THE PRIZE AGAIN.

SHEILAH IS GETTING FAMILIAR WITH THE PRIZE AGAIN!

Sheilah’s Goals and the Prizes to follow:
1. Lose that 25 ~ PRIZE: Clothes will fit better, more energy and confidence, reduce risks of diabetes and heart disease all equaling a happier healthier Mama who will have more fun playing with her kids while raising them with healthy habits.
2. Finish the half marathon in October ~ PRIZE: Knowing I have finished something difficult will give me a sense of accomplishment, inspire me on to other challenges and maybe even inspire a runner or two among my own family!
3. Become more financially responsible and stable ~ PRIZE: If I take care of what I have I will welcome more. Giving myself a stable launching pad for a great financial future and true independence. My family will get to hear “we can” rather than always “we can’t” and hopefully they will learn how important financial responsibility is before they have to learn the hard way.
4.  Build a savings and a family vacation planned for the following year ~ PRIZE: The savings is initially for a safety net but it’s also the start of short and long term goals. Vacationing has been a dream I have had for a long time. I know the value of vacations. It creates memories, broadens the mind, and provides a mental break from the everyday.
5. Have another career path chosen and preparations started ~ PRIZE:  I believe the best careers are made when you find your passion and then find a way to make a living at it. I want that to be a legacy for my family.

Of course there’s a price to pay for each of these goals and that price starts staring her down every morning the moment she wakes up.  However, the PRIZE is once again in proper position and it’s totally worth the price!
