Finding Hidden Treasure

A forgotten passion.

There’s nothing quite like discovering your passion and following it.  Sheilah always knew her passion . . . art!  I went to school with Sheilah from kindergarten through high school and if there is one thing I remember about her, it was her raw artistic talent.  She and I were the girls who hated to run in Junior High (heck, I think we were the girls who hated to run our entire lives until now in our mid 30’s we’ve decided to become marathoners!) We would make up some wild excuse why we couldn’t run and sit on the bleachers during PE.  I recall sitting on those bleachers watching her sketch a horse on a torn piece of notebook paper as everyone gathered around in awe.

We’re not in Junior High anymore and to my shock after 16 years I catch up with Sheilah and discover she has buried her passions deep in a life filled with disappointments, heart ache and settling for less than the best.

Now, what shall we do here . . .

Step 1:  Re-ignite the flames of passion
Step 2:  Recognize we are given special gifts and talents for a reason and begin to believe in ourselves again
Step 3:  Make a plan
Step 4:  Follow the darn plan
Step 5:  Keep taking the next step, it’s always right in front of you

Sheilah’s Steps 1, 2 and 3 are complete and she’s following the darn plan!  She now has direction for her life, she has a timeline to make it all happen, she is building her portfolio, set up an art studio in her apartment and watch out world, Sheilah is following her passion and using her God-given talent!

These sketches are now part of Sheilah’s portfolio!  The runner is her self-image of transformation during her Truth and Dare Challenge. The second sketch portrays a mother holding her daughters for the first time after telling them they were being adopted (yes, this one is a bit close to my heart).

All these years there has been this treasure hiding within!  So, if you’re looking for a brilliant artist with true passion, you know who to call . . . SHEILAH!

Love it when I know I am smiling, laughing and crying in such wonderful company!! This month has been truly amazing! I have never felt as true to myself as I do right now!! Im gonna share a quote that jumped out at me from a magazine the other day. " How you train is how you tackle life. Dont avoid discomfort; deal with it head-on to get stronger. Learn how to work out with passion and that fire will carry over into everything you do." ~ Jackie Warner. Our Head Mama knows this truth and I will be eternally grateful to her for sharing it so beautifully!!!
