Sweaty Thinking

A Mama's Journey

Exercise clears our mind and somehow allows us to view things in a different light.  Maybe it’s the sweat, maybe it’s the lack of oxygen to the brain or perhaps it’s the burning butt and thighs.  Who knows, but Sheilah’s morning run helped her discover something profound . . .

I went to the park this morning for my 5 mile run.  There was no eye candy for Mama today.  I wasn’t out there on my own for long though.  There was a perfect young girl with her perfect boyfriend running in perfect unison without a jiggle in sight (ok tiny sting of jealousy over that one, but I’m not a hater – you go girl!)  There was a Mama running behind her son who was on his bike, both having a blast and grinning from ear to ear.  Another Mama seemed shy and not very confident as she walked.  Perhaps she was just beginning to take those steps for herself to feel good.

Now, here’s where the brilliant thinking kicks in!

I got to thinking about how each one of them had a story like my own and each of us were at different stages in our lives.  And here we were – each out there taking that same trail trying to get something better out of our day.  My 5 miles turned into 6 strong miles with an all out sprint at the end to celebrate myself and all my fellow Smokin’ Hot Mamas out there making it work!

So our fellow Mamas, wherever you find yourself today, know you’re not alone and your story counts!  Sheilah and the entire Smokin’ Hot Mama Club is here to cheer you on!

(By the way, this was Sheilah's first EVER 6 miles straight!!!  Some things are just better at 34 years old, right Sheilah?!!)

It gets sweeter each and every day! One of the things I LOVE about running is I have the best thoughts out there especially on those special days when my "sissy girl" has stayed silent and taken a back seat and I JUST PLAIN FEEL GOOD!!!
