Little Spectaculars 30 Day Challenge ... are you in?

Spectacular in so many ways. Spectacular because a dream of doing pep rallies for thousands of elementary students is coming true. Spectacular because I was able to tell those children how much we believe in them. Spectacular because Sergio's story impacted these children to believe in themselves. Spectuacular because we SURVIVED the mob of children screaming for beads! It wasn't perfect, but it was SPECTACULAR!

A spectacular moment. Before the game I told my son to play defense harder. I asked him if he would protect me if someone was trying to hurt me. Of course he would. I told him "Son, imagine I am behind you and the guy in front of you is trying to hurt Mama. You protect me son. Don't let him hurt me." He played SPECTACULAR. After the game he says, "Mama, I protected you." They didn't win and it didn't matter! I am proud.

There are little spectaular moments of motherhood that I once overlooked. This is one of them ... finding science experiments in the freezer on a daily basis. Here we have a frozen cup of water containing a huge fly. NICE! Love having that right next to the frozen strawberries and veggies. Yeah, that's SPECTACULAR!
Here were today's runner up "Little Spectaucular" photos!

We went from a boring Monday evening laying around to driving down the road with the windows rolled down, music turned up and heading for the skate park! Just one of those spectaular little moments at a stop light belting out the lyrics to JLo's new song and making complete fools of ourselves!
Today's little spectacular runner ups:

And these are the little moments that once slipped right past me. These are the little moments I now find priceless. 3 happy, healthy kids just being kids. Loving my crazy, hectic, messy life more every day because the "little spectaculars" are taking over!
April 6, 2011
I love to see my kids get fired up about something positive. This is my son at the end of a long, hard 2 hour football practice ... fired up for his team. It's a spectacular reminder that Mama needs to have that kind of passion in her life as well. I'm fired up for life!!!!!! Now line up for your butt smack and high 5!

Spectacular is often my son's football game, my daughters' giggles or my husband's magnficient cooking ... but tonight spectacular comes in the form of freshly mopped floors. Let me be honest. Business has come to a screeching hault, this will be our second month with negative income. I'm not sure how much longer I will have these floors to mop. They were once the floors I complained about ... tonight those floors are spectacular and I am grateful!

Doing what I love and loving what I do! I can honestly say there is nothing I would rather do with my Friday afternoon than host a pep rally for 375 AWESOME kids and tell them how much I believe in them. Their energy is infectious. Their potential is SPECTACULAR! I'm so grateful to have shared in 1 hour of their lives!
And if I can brag on the people who help make these rallies possible, here's a few more pictures!

They may be defeated and beat up after a brutal game, but those boys are winners because of their spectacular attitudes! It's character building time, not championships.
One more little spectaculars from a beautiful Saturday.

A hot tub full of my 4 favorite people. Add warm brownies and cold milk and you have served up some Spectacular for a Sunday evening!
More little spectaculars for a perfect day:

Spectacular hit my kitchen tonight in the form of little girls who are growing up and making Mamas life super sweet! As I stand back in awe watching daughter #1 tear lettuce while daughter #2 slices tomatoes, I'm soaking in that little spectacular. I'm snapping photos, smiling with pride, totally not noticing daughter #1 has shredded the entire head of lettuce for only 2 turkey burgers. Salad anybody? :)
Honorable mention Monday Little Spectaculars:
April 12, 2011
This isn't just any 11 year old boy ... this is a spectacular big brother willingly selling his motorcycle tonight and handing over the $650 to help his family. Somebody agree with me here . . . THAT IS SPECTACULAR!
April 13, 2011
I always love sneaking into my sleeping children's rooms before I go to bed. Tonight I find that little spectacular moment right here ... my daughter who has a weird obsession about using a ton of Carmex! There she lies in her bed, the entire lower 1/2 of her face glowing in Carmex. Makes for some sweet Mama kisses in the morning!
Two more little spectacular moments captured today:
April 14, 2011
Spectacular happened here today. During a SHM Club Student Pep Rally at Clendenin Elementary, I witnessed SPECTACULAR. My friend Sergio (pictured here in his wheelchair amoung the mob of kids) shared the stage with me to inspire these awesome kids. Afterwards he told me through this he has found his purpose and he will no doubt change the world! Yes, THAT is SPECTACULAR!
April 15, 2011
Spectacular is a group of sisters, neighbors, high school friends, co-workers and perfect strangers all gathered to encourage and support one another. SPECTACULAR is the El Paso Smokin' Hot Mamas!
April 16, 2011
It's the prized "well done son" after the long, hard fought football game. It's the moment this Mama gets choked up over every week. It's the little spectacular our family will forever treasure.
April 17, 2011
Few things can really compare to sweet, spectacular little notes from our children. Totally unprompted and given without motive, THIS is my little spectacular!
However, I should note, this day held so many spectacular moments. Here are my runner ups:
April 18, 2011
Spectacular is a Monday evening with nothing to do. Spectacular is a spontaneous trip to the park. Spectacular is a quilt made by my great-grandma. Spectacular is the daughters God put in my heart instead of my tummy.
Spectacular is a few other things today as well ....
April 19, 2011
That's a double scoop icecream for a spectacular son who commended on his TAKS test. This boy makes his Mama so proud!
