Celebrate Plate

Celebrate Plate . . . it’s a necessity for every home (in my fun-filled opinion anyway!)  Any time there is a reason for a mini celebration, the honored recipient of the dinner Celebrate Plate is serenaded in song and “woo-hoos” from the entire family.  It’s a coveted prize without question!

Meet my daughter Alexa.  She received the Celebrate Plate for a very special occasion this evening.  Now before you can fully comprehend the magnitude of Alexa’s heroic act, you need to know a bit about her.  Alexa joined our family 3 years ago on the day of her 6th birthday.  We adopted her and her little sister Paola from a Mexican orphanage (which by the way, my girls consider being adopted as a badge of honor!)  While a sweet loving girl, to be honest she was a complete downer, which was a big clash with my personality.  If I said “let’s go outside and play”, she said “what if it rains?”  If we went on a hike through the woods, she was on the lookout for bears.  Surprise her with a family road-trip and she was convinced we would have a wreck on the interstate.  Alexa was always concerned about the worst case scenario and never soaked in the moment and had fun like most kids or her Mama.

During the past three years we have witnessed this little Eeyore slowly reveal her inner Tigger.  If we mention a negative, she’s now quick to point out a contrasting positive.  It is in her daily ritual to say, “Mommy, let’s think of all the good things we want!”  I believe if this little girl, who has endured more tragedy and trauma in 9 years than most of us will in a lifetime, can change her attitude and see the glass as half full, WE ALL CAN!!!

Today she came skipping out of school anxious to share with me her “Celebrate Plate” worthy achievement.  A little girl in her class was complaining about her mom.  She told Alexa that her mom is always grouchy, never wants to play and isn’t very fun.  Alexa’s immediate response was, and I quote, “Well, maybe your Mom has a lot on her mind, maybe she’s stressed out and that’s why she’s not very nice.  You should tell her to go onto smokinhotmamaclub.com and learn how to have fun.  It will really help her and you will like having a Smokin’ Hot Mama, they’re the best!”

Oh yes, join me in a round of applause for that one!!!!!!!  How totally freakin’ awesome is that?  This little girl who used to count the clouds in the sky and figure the chances of raining on her parade is sharing the Smokin’ Hot Mama message with enthusiasm.  I vote for Alexa to have the Celebrate Plate all week!!!

Twayna ~ What a wonderful compliment. Some people can be around positive people their entire life and still live in self-pitty and negativity, I'm so thankful Alexa is CHOOSING to view the glass half-full. May your cup be over-flowing today!

awwwww that brought a tear to my eye! She's such a sweet little girl and sooooo smart! To have the insight to try to teach the friend that sometimes mom's have struggles too.

But I hope mom does check out Smokin Hot Mama's!

Remember about 2 years ago you got us all into the "Gift Revolution" and we all passed out little business cards to pay it forward. Well Mz Hot Thang, me thinks we all need some Smokin Hot Mama cards so we can pass out and pay it forward!!

Rebecca ~ My Alexa knows that Moms have struggles because she's seen me have a few. I've had to apologize many times and ask forgiveness in my less than desirable moments! AND - great minds think alike sister - guess what that genius husband of mine is working on . . . SHM cards!!!!!

This is one little girl that has had a huge change in her life. She has come such a long way. She is still a little shy and such a big heart. A very loving girl. I love her so much.

Very touching....As a Mother of two boys, I think I will take extra time out of "my" busy day and let them know how awesome they are as little individuals. And for myself, I will remind "me" that life IS about celebrating !! Just as I was writing this, I had this song POP right into my head and wanted to share it.....Enjoy....and SMILE !

Be optimistic!
Don't you be a grumpy
When the road gets bumpy
Just smile
(Smile and be happy!)

Your troubles can't be
As bad as all that
When you're sad as all that
No one loves you

Be optimistic!
Don't you be a mourner
Brighten up that corner
And smile

Don't wear a long face
It's never in style
Be optimistic
And smile
